Education

To boost the global standing of EU universities, the European Commission has pegged in its higher education strategy a new form of university listing, which analysts say may overturn the US “elite” bias of current commercial rankings.

Europe's unemployment crisis has had the worst impact on people who failed to complete secondary school education, regardless of age, says a new report on education around the world.

Five EU member states with successful apprenticeship systems have united to share knowledge with lagging countries, in advance of new European Commission proposals to promote the schemes as a way to address youth unemployment.

Denmark, Cyprus, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, Finland and Sweden have already met or even exceeded their 2020 national targets on boosting university education, defined three years ago at EU level to enhance the bloc’s labour force and ability to compete against global economic rivals.
