Schools invited to compete for eLearning Awards

Schools can be granted Awards for ongoing or recently finalised educational projects and activities using eLearning.

Background: 

European Schoolnet has just launched the fourth edition of the eLearning Awards. The Awards aim to identify and reward excellent practice in using information and communication technologies (ICT) for learning. Teachers and schools are invited to submit projects sdemonstrating how they use ICT in education. Projects will be evaluated by educational experts from all over Europe. Among the key areas evaluated are: production, networking, learning community, content, didactics, pedagogical innovation and transferability. The deadline for submissions is 1 September 2004.

The main eLearning Awards category will reward the best three examples of the innovative use of ICT in education. Winners of the awards will be invited to a prize-giving ceremony in Prague, Czech Republic, in November 2004.

The EU supports actions to integrate Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) in education and training systems in Europe through the eLearning programme. From Januaty 2004 to December 2006, the eLearning programme will devote 44 millions euro to the promotion of digital literacy and the development of European virtual campuses.
