Fondation EurActiv provides training for ten young professionals each year
Fondation EurActiv is a Belgian foundation set up in January 2004. The activities of Fondation EurActiv include:
- Research: identifying sources of information and intelligence on European Union policies and their impact on European Actors;
- Advice: assisting European media and their content partners to access and then diffuse information;
- Logistical support to partners: the CrossLingual Brussels Network Office at the International Press Center is helping the 9 media in 9 languages that are based outside Belgium (EN/FR/DE + 7 across Europe);
- Training: providing speakers and moderators for conferences as well as policy training for journalists and young professionals.
Length of internships
- Minimum six months, extendable twice to a maximum of eighteen months;
- Preference is given to graduates who are eligible and qualify for Leonardo funding;
- After initial six months, selected ‘stagiaires’ can be promoted to ‘trainee’ status;
- Trainees receive quarterly assessments and every six months an upgrade review;
Training
- Each intern will be trained to assist in either editorial, public affairs, marketing, blogging or other online publishing activities;
- Each intern will be allocated to a supervisor, responsible for resources and guidance;
- All stagiaires receive an induction, usually provided by a current trainee, who has joined within the previous year;
- All stagiaires receive immediate coaching and mentoring from their supervisor. They are also evaluated formally every three months;
- Rotations are possible between content, editorial, marketing and administration.
Rewards
- All receive (modest) financial rewards, which are increased at each promotion;
- Certificate on completion of 12 month internship;
- All trainees are eligible to apply for permanent positions within the EurActiv network of policy portals.
