Commission fixes rural development funding purse for new Member States

The Commission has fixed EU funding for the new Member States' rural development projects at 5.76 billion euro in current prices for 2004-2006.

Background:


The 5.76 billion euro purse earmarked by the Commission for agricultural development funding in the new Member States is to be allocated according to the terms and amounts laid down in the Act of Accession. Following the new Member States' accession on 1 May 2004, the EU will co-finance a broad range of rural development projects at a maximum rate of 80 per cent.

The annual initial allocations agreed by the Commission are as follows (million euro, in current prices):
