'Blogs', the commonly used shortened form for 'web logs', are becoming an important forum for personal expression on websites. The Commissioner for Institutional Relations and Communication has launched a dedicated page on her website with a first personalised letter to the European public. 

Her first comments focus on the tsunami disaster and her first working days under the Luxembourg Presidency but she also talks about her taste for Portuguese Fado and about the fact that she had put on weight during the Christmas break. 

During the Prodi Commission, Trade Commissioner Pascal Lamy very efficiently used personalised letters as a tool to give the public some insight into the way trade negotiations work.
