Analysis : Sport systems in the EU[en] 

This study outlines the wide range of sport systems of the member states and indicates that they have both a “governmental and non-governmental side”. 

Karen Petry, Dirk Steinbach and Walter Tokarski illustrate the hierarchy of the European sports world and refer to the role of the EU member states as “a strong responsibility on the part of the states" to "complete autonomy of the sport movement”. 

The study also includes the financial aspect of the member states and portrays the various levels of responsibility both of the state and of the National Olympic Committee.
