A European strategy for global health?

The European Foundation Centre (EFC) recently launched a publication entitled European Perspectives on Global Health: A Policy Glossary, which urges the development of a European strategy for global health.

The authors qualify the glossary as "a contribution to social dialogues on global-health issues in Europe" and argue that the EU should play a more proactive role in global health.

The authors suggest that foundations, the corporate sector, health professional groups, NGOs and other European organisations should be brought together through organisations such as the Network of European Foundations, Europe's national associations of donors, as well as national health networks and institutions with an interest in global health.

The mechanism for this collaboration should be a 'European strategy for global health', the key policy imperatives of which are explained in the glossary.
