On 15 June 2007, Seillière obtained the unanimous support of all presidents of BusinessEurope's 39 member federations in 33 countries.
Seillière said: "I feel very honoured that all member federations have given me their full support and confidence for a second term as BusinessEurope president. The European economy is evolving positively, the current economic upswing gives us a great opportunity to adapt the European Union to the challenges of globalisation, and we are waiting for political solutions concerning the institutional problems. Together with all our member federations, I will continue to express the views of European business in all key debates that shape the future of our continent."
Before assuming the presidency of the group in 2005, Seillière was head of MEDEF, France's largest union of employers, from 1997 to 2005. BusinessEurope, formerly UNICE, lobbies for the interests of Europe's 20 million companies.
