Addressing MEPs in Strasbourg on Tuesday (5th July), ALDE leader Guy Verhofstadt said that “the last man standing in Britain will be a woman”.
“It shall be like in the time of Margaret Thatcher: only a woman is capable to manage a divided Tory party, ” he added.
Verhofstadt also said “Brexiteers” remind him of “rats fleeing a sinking ship”, after British leaders David Cameron, Boris Johnson and Nigel Farage resigned.
The ALDE leader urged EU policymakers to implement reforms in the European Union. “You are sleepwalking towards 27 other referendums,” he sentenced.
