Iranian protestors stormed two British diplomatic compounds in Tehran yesterday (29 November), smashing windows, torching a car and burning the British flag in protest against new sanctions imposed by London.

The United States, Britain and Canada yesterday (21 November) announced new sanctions on Iran's energy and financial sectors, steps analysts said may raise pressure on Tehran but were unlikely to halt its nuclear program.

European Union leaders yesterday (20 October) hailed reports of Muammar Gaddafi's death, saying it marked "the end of an era of despotism and repression". Up to €85 million is available for reconstruction and stabilisation needs, the European Commission indicated.
