Greece's coalition government is divided over a draft law introduced by Justice Minister Antonis Roupakiotis, which aims to combat the increasing racist attacks in the debt-ridden nation. EurActiv Greece reports. 

Workers in EU institutions are preparing to go on strike on 5 June if the European Council, where member states sit, get the upper hand in a proposed reform of the institutions’ staff regulations. Trade unions described the Council position as the “most serious attack” on civil servants’ incomes the EU has ever seen.

German Finance Minister Wolfgang Schäuble and Portugal's Vítor Gaspar inked an agreement on Wednesday (22 May) to fight youth unemployment in the debt-laden Southern European state. A similar deal was signed with Spain last month in what the opposition Social Democrats described as a belated attempt to restore Germany’s image in Southern Europe.

Europe’s most influential business lobby will have its first female leader starting in July, but as BusinessEurope holds its annual summit over the next two days, men will dominate at the podium.
