During its meeting on 12 February, the Economic and Finance Ministers reached a political agreement on the VAT and e-commerce Directive, subject to the Parliament's opinion. The Directive applies to certain services supplied by electronic means, as well as subscription-based and pay-per-view radio and television broadcasting.

US objects to EU solution on VAT and e-commerce - 11 February 2002 - News

The US Treasury stated the EU proposal on VAT and e-commerce, which the ECOFIN Council is expected to adopt on 12 February, may contravene OECD agreements.
