EU commissioner makes song and dance about traffic pollution

Europe's environment commissioner Janez Potočnik has vowed to write and perform a song in front of at least 1000 people. But, we will only see the commissioner on stage if the audience agrees to stop using their cars for a week.

Potočnikc made his promise as part of Earth Hour Global Challenge, an initiative that aims at raising awareness about saving energy and care for the environment.

Transport is responsible for one quarter of the global energy consumption and one of the biggest sources of pollution in the world.

The commissioner hopes to get the message out via his 12,000 twitter followers and 3,000 Facebook friends.

Aimed at mobilizing people to take action on climate change, Earth Hour will also see people turning their lights off for an hour on March 23rd.
