The precautionary principle applies when extensive scientific knowledge on potential threats is lacking, as it is the case with glyphosate. Art. 15 of the CBD: “Where there are threats of serious or irreversible damage, lack of full scientific certainty shall be not used as a reason for postponing cost-effective measures to prevent environmental degradation.” This also applies for health issues.
