European megabourse (updated)

The London Stock Exchange and Frankfurt’s Deutsche Boerse announced their plans to merge and create a European mega-bourse, called iX

The London Stock Exchange and Frankfurt's Deutsche Boerse yesterday announced their plans to merge and create a European mega-bourse, called iX (for "International Exchanges"). Some time ago, the Paris, Brussels and Amsterdam exchanges decided to merge into Euronext. The new iX will be the world's second largest exchange. It will cooperate with the US Nasdaq.

But not all UK business circles are happy about this move because, according to them, it would force investors to deal in euros whether they like it or not.
