No agreement in copyrights debate

Yesterday’s Internal Market Council did not reach a political agreement on the amended proposal for a Directive on copyright and related rights in the Information society

Yesterday's Internal Market Council did not reach a political agreement on the amended proposal for a Directive providing for a harmonised and appropriate legal framework for copyright and related rights in the Information society. Member states are split over the issue, with some countries seeking a high level of protection for authors' rights, whereas other member states believe private individuals have a right to make copies for their own use.
