Dotcom crash: the worst is over in Germany

In Germany, the ICT sector is expected to resume growth in 2003. From a macroeconomic standpoint, the worst is over.

For many years, the term “new economy” fired the imagination of investors, bankers, insurers and the media alike. These are precisely the groups now struggling with the repercussions of the dotcom crash. In Germany, the ICT sector is expected to resume growth in 2003, whereas the insurance industry is still grappling with the consequences of the bust. From a macroeconomic standpoint, the worst is over. However, structural problems will curb a rapid, robust recovery.
