Radomir Nikolić, a former Mayor of Kragujevac and the son of former Serbian President Tomislav Nikolić, is the likeliest candidate for the post of Serbian Ambassador to China, the Kurir daily reported on Monday (28 September). According to the newspaper, Nikolić is expected to replace Milan Bačević, who has recently returned to Serbia after his term in office expired.
Kurir also said that one of the important factors in Nikolić’s appointment is that his father has maintained strong connections with the country as the president of the Serbian National Council for Cooperation with China and Russia.
Tomislav Nikolić served as the President of Serbia from 2012 to 2017. He is also the founder of the ruling Serbian progressive Party and was its leader until his election as President. Until 2008 he was deputy president of Vojislav Šešelj’s Serbian Radical Party.
