Romania will ask the European Commission for direct financial support for milk, pork and poultry, as farmers and food producers have amassed large inventories, Agriculture Minister Adrian Oros said Tuesday (12 May).
The European Commission has already accepted a request from several states, including Romania, on private storage aid for dairy and meat, the minister said, adding that these products are now withdrawn from the market.
“What I will ask in addition to what we got so far from the Commission in the Wednesday meeting (of the AGRIFISH Council) will be as follows: direct financial support from the EAGF for milk, pork and poultry meat. Our farmers, our food makers have very large stocks of these products”, Oros told a news conference. (EURACTIV.ro)
