LJUBLJANA – New foreign minister wants secret special envoy for Croatia

The likely candidate for new Slovenian foreign minister, Anže Logar (SDS-EPP), spoke on Tuesday in favour of strengthening relations with Croatia while protecting Slovenian national interests on Tuesday (10 March), adding that Slovenia would have a better insight into their relationship with Croatia if it appointed a special, secret envoy for relations with its neighbour.

Logar said that better cooperation with Croatia was also important for strategic reasons, citing illegal migration and the coronavirus outbreak, adding that there would be more challenges in the future that would require cooperation.

Concerning the preparations for Slovenia’s EU Presidency (the second part of next year), he said he supported the direct engagement by the prime minister, who can most easily coordinate ministers. (Željko Trkanjec | EURACTIV.hr)
