The prime ministers of Kosovo and Albania had strikingly different views on the Western Balkans “Mini-Schengen” initiative at a news conference in Tirana.
Kosovo Prime Minister Albin Kurti said that he was talking with Albanian Prime Minister Edi Rama more about “Albanian macro-Schengen”.
To this, Rama responded that “there is no Albanian ‘macro-Schengen,’ without a Balkans ‘mini-Schengen’. Let’s move things forward. Neither Serbia nor any other country can tell us we are making ‘Greater Albania,’ if we get rid of borders”.
After that, Rama said that cooperating with Kosovo is one of his country’s first priorities.
“I want to emphasise that we provide 100% support to Kosovo in its battle for recognition as a sovereign and democratic country”, Rama stressed. (Željko Trkanjec | EURACTIV.hr)
