WARSAW – On Thursday the report on judicial reforms

According to Senate Speaker Tomasz Grodzki, the Council of Europe’s Venice Commission report that concerns the country’s judicial reforms by the ruling Law and Justice (PiS) party should be unveiled on Thursday (16 January).

In its report, the group of legal experts is likely to be critical of the amendments passed by PiS before Christmas, which provide, for instance, that judges can be fined for “public activities incompatible with the principles of judicial independence and the independence of judges”, which is meant to silence those who are opposed to the government.
