Sources have confirmed that following a secret government meeting held on Saturday, Health Minister Milan Kujundžić (HDZ, EPP) is expected to resign on Monday (27 January) following allegations that he did not properly declare his property expenses.
As expected, party rebels, who are expected to challenge Plenković in the inter-party elections scheduled for 17 March, officially launched a campaign on Saturday (25 January).
They have united against the incumbent PM, with former Foreign Affairs Minister Miro Kovač intending to take on the party’s presidency, former MEP and foreign affairs minister Davo Ivo Stier to be vice-president candidate and current mayor of Vukovar Ivan Penava wanting the treasury.
Yet, with most of the prominent party members having already publicly supported Plenković, it appears unclear who will be supporting the rebel opposition. (Tea Trubić Macan | EURACTIV.hr)
