Croatian Interior Minister Davor Božinović rejected the idea of restricting human rights amid the fight against the coronavirus pandemic.
“People are increasingly aware of the situation, which is why the civic guard has decided to undertake such determinate measures according to the recommendations of epidemiologists,” the interior minister said when asked to comment on President Zoran Milanović’s accusation that such restrictions were abusing citizens’ rights.
The minister explained that the guard decided to limit freedom of movement after last Sunday’s earthquake had motivated a lot of people from Zagreb to leave and go southwards. “Medical capacity on the coast in the wintertime is not as good as during the rest of the year,” explained Božinović.
