Landslide win for Serbia’s opposition

Future Serbian prime minister Djindjic annnounces that former President Milosevic will be put on trial

After a landslide win in the general elections, future Serbian prime minister Djindjic has announced that former President Milosevic will be put on trial.

The Democratic Opposition of Serbia (DOS) received 176 seats in the 250-seat parliament, Yugoslavia's most powerful institution. Milosevic's Socialist party kept only 37 seats. The ultra-nationalist Radical Party got 23, seats and the Serbian Unity party 14.

The European Union immediately expressed its satisfaction over the opposition's victory.
