Commission proposes directive to cut noise pollution

The European Commission has presented a new Framework Directive to cut environmental noise, produced by transport, industry and recreation.

The European Commission has presented a new Framework Directive to cut environmental noise, produced by transport, industry and recreation. The proposed directive introduces noise mapping for urban agglomerations with more than 100,000 inhabitants and for the areas near major roads, railways and airports. Noise maps will be published locally to inform the public. Theses noise maps will form the basis for local action plans to improve the situation.
