Greece to use seized alcohol to tackle antiseptics shortage

The Greek government has decided to pass legislation allowing using seized alcohol to produce antiseptics.

The ministries of health, justice and economy have pushed forward a law making it possible to use seized or smuggled ethyl alcohol in order to prepare antiseptics on the basis of an examination report issued by the competent chemical authority.

Greek media report that Greek lawmakers are eyeing at least 120 tonnes of seized or confiscated ethyl alcohol.

In total, 89 coronavirus cases have been reported in Greece so far, while a 66-year-old man in Patra is in critical condition.
