As GDPR will enter into force next week on 25 May, ETNO took the opportunity to interview Stefano Fratta, Legal Director Consumer, Fintech & Big Data at Telefonica. He explains why confidentiality of information is a key principle, and how his company helps customer get in control of their own data via AURA.
“I think we have the GDPR now, we are working to comply with its provisions. It is already quite demanding in terms of compliance and we do feel that the ePrivacy is needed as far as the protection of the secret of communication. Because we would welcome a single law that covers this principle across the European Union.
We think, however, that most of the provision related to the processing of metadata, they are already included in the GDPR and there is no need to duplicate them in the ePrivacy”, highlights Fratta.
The interview has been recorded in the context of the Digital4Smarties workshop series developed with EU40. The discussion on ePrivacy continues this morning from 08.30am with the latest workshop series titled “Data Revolution & Data Regulation: Connecting the Privacy Dots” and could be followed on Twitter via #ePrivacy.
