In an exclusive interview with EURACTIV Romania, EU Regional Policy Commissioner Corina Cre?u explained her views on the Greek crisis, emphasising that the EU executive will invest in “projects that will create jobs.” According to the Romanian Commissioner, EU funds “should go to those who are most vulnerable, people that are really in need”.

As talks between eurozone finance ministers and Athens struggle to reach an agreement on how to proceed, after Greece’s bailout programme runs out this month, Cretu pointed out that “tourism is an important component for Greece, but for the current political moment it is important to send a message that we are investing in SMEs”.

“The unemployment rate has reached an alarming level. So it is our duty to change our political vision with regard to European funds,” Cre?u added.
