Draghi: Rumours are unfounded, I will stay at the ECB

Responding to media speculation over his future, ECB president Mario Draghi said on Monday that rumours about his exit are “unfounded” and come from “interested parties”.

Answering questions from MEPs in the European Parliament in Strasbourg, Draghi also said that “a stronger euro exchange rate is a risk to the sustainability of the euro zone recovery”, reiterating his position that the exchange rate is not a policy target for the ECB, but nonetheless an important driver of future inflation in the euro area.
