First exit polls published at 3pm today indicate that the Italian two-day elections might have been won by the Ulivo coalition of former Commission President Romano Prodi but, in the past, exit polls in Italy have not been very reliable.

Flash news: two exit polls show a small lead for the centre-left coalition of Mr Prodi in both houses of parliament. The Unione of Romano Prodi would get between 50 and 54% of the vote, the Casa delle Liberta would receive between 45-49%.

EURACTIV will provide full coverage and reactions from EU Actors tomorrow.
