The European Parliament is grilling the proposed members of Ursula von der Leyen’s Commission in a series of regular hearings between 30 September and 8 October. Dutchman Frans Timmermans will be last under the spotlight.

Timmermans has been nominated by Ursula von der Leyen as one of her three executive vice-presidents alongside Margrethe Vestager and Valdis Dombrovskis, whose hearings were completed earlier on Tuesday.

The Dutchman is tasked with overseeing the EU’s Green Deal and has also been appointed as the bloc’s climate Commissioner.
