European Commission First Vice-President Frans Timmermans was today (19 May) asked if his “Better Regulation” push would be enough to satisfy the United Kingdom.
The UK wants a series of EU reforms, including a drive to cut unnecessary red tape, as it moves towards an in/out referendum on its membership of the bloc.
Timmermans unveiled his “Better Regulation” strategy at a Strasbourg press conference. A British reporter asked if the changes were enough to satisfy British demands.
After saying the Commission was waiting for specific UK requests, the First Vice-President replied using Shakespearian language, “Is this radical or not? Methinks it is!”
