“This achievement is the result of a collective effort. No one ever thought it would be easy. Historic decisions never are,” said EU Foreign Affairs chief Federica Mogherini after Iran and six major world powers including the EU reached a nuclear deal on Tuesday.
“We have always been aware we had a responsibility to our generation and the future ones. Thanks to the constructive engagement of all parties, and the dedication and ability of our teams, we have successfully concluded negotiations and resolved a dispute that lasted more than 10 years,” Mogherini added.
Under the deal, sanctions imposed by the United States, European Union and United Nations would be lifted in return for Iran agreeing to long-term curbs on a nuclear program that the West has suspected was aimed at building a nuclear bomb.
