On his arrival at the December 2014 EU Summit, Finnish Prime Minister Alexander Stubb said that he is ‘optimistic’ a deal on climate and energy targets will be agreed on Thursday. “We will get 40% emissions reduction and we are looking at 27% in both renewables and energy efficiency,” Stubb said.
“It’s very important that those countries advanced in climate change do not end up footing the bill,” the Finnish Prime Minister added.
EU leaders are meeting in Brussels on Thursday and Friday to reach an agreement on the new climate and energy policy framework for 2030. The last EU Summit chaired by Herman Van Rompuy will also look at the state of the European economy and address some foreign policy issues. Ebola is also on the official agenda.
