FYROM elects new premier

Forty-two year old Vlado Buckovski has been elected the
new prime minister of the Former Yugoslav Republic of
Macedonia.

The ruling Social Democratic Party (SDSM) of the
Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia (FYROM) elected
Defence Minister Vlado Buckovski to the post of prime
minister on 26 November. He has also assumed the
leadership of the SDSM. The 42-year-old Buckovski was
chosen after an 11-hour debate. 

He replaces Hari Kostov in the post, who resigned on
16 November citing stalled reforms and conflicts within
his coalition. Upon his formal authorisation by President
Branko Crvenovski, Buckovski will have 20 days to form a
government.
