Kostunica wants Yugoslavia in EU

Yugoslav President Kostunica has made a plea for his country to become member of the European Union

In an official address to the European Parliament in Strasbourg, Yugoslav President Kostunica has made a plea for his country to become member of the European Union. As a first step, he wants to sign an Association Agreement with the EU as soon as possible.

EU member states reached an agreement on Wednesday for a financial aid package of 4.65 billion Euros for the Balkans, including Yugoslavia, for the period from 2000 to 2006. The EU wants to officially present this aid package during the Zagreb Summit on 24 November.
