Majority of Norwegians expect new EU referendum

According to a recent poll, 75 per cent of Norwegians who favour the country's membership of the EU believe that they will have an opportunity to vote 'yes' after the 2005 parliamentary elections. The poll was conducted by Sentio-Norstat and published in the local paper Nationen. The results showed that 67 per cent of those Norwegians who are still opposed to their country's EU membership believe that a new referendum will be called on the issue. The poll showed that 23 per cent thought there would not be a new referendum.

Norway has already rejected EU membership twice, in 1972 and in 1994.
