The title claims OLAF is involved, but there is nothing related to OLAF in the text. The article claims tax is avoided, but claims actually conterfeit products are imported, which is completely different thing. The article claims there is evidence for illegal activities, but does not provide details and in the same time writes Italians suspect something is fishy. The article somehow indicates that Chinese ownership of the port facilitates the claimed crimes, but later cites that it is not the job of port authorities to track crime. Is it, or is it not?
If there are evidence, these should go to court and people should go to prison.

The Chinese gov/companies have little interest in supporting EU tax collection activities or the suppression of counterfeiting/fraud.

The solution is to have each consigment cleared manually at the port. Whilst this would be a slow and costly process, it would also produce much needed Greek jobs and eliminate fraud. Every consgnment should be physically inspected. If the Chinese cannot be bothered at their end – then the EU needs to send a message that they will do something about it at the EU end. Chinese companies go bust?, COSCO loses business? so waht – tough.
