The European Parliament’s culture and education committee has rejected to endorse Hungary’s Tibor Navracsics as the future Education, Culture, Youth and Citizenship commissioner due to his record in a government accused of attacking civil rights. MEPs voted on Monday to accept Navracsics in another role within the new Juncker’s commission.

Navracsics was Hungarian Deputy Prime Minister, Minister for Public Administration and Justice, and Minister for Foreign Affairs and Trade.
