A recent opinion poll in Spain has revealed that 58.8 per cent of respondents have yet to decide which way to vote in the upcoming referendum on the EU Constitution. Among the respondents with a firm view, 28.1 per cent were in favour and 4.6 per cent against. A vast majority of the respondents agreed that the Constitution will help the process of European integration. The survey conducted by the Spanish Instituto Opina for El País asked 1,000 people about their views on the new treaty. Spain will be the first country to hold a referendum, on 20 February. It will be followed by between a minimum of eight and a maximum of fifteen others, including France, Poland and the UK. Two countries, Lithuania and Hungary, have already ratified the treaty through a parliamentary vote.
