European Commission First Vice-President Frans Timmermans spoke today (8 February) as the executive adopted its ninth progress report on the EU’s emergency refugee relocation and resettlement schemes.
The Commission assessed actions taken since 8 December 2016. Member states have continued to increase their efforts on resettlement, offering legal and safe pathways to 13,968 people so far. Timmermans explained that they need to do more to reach the monthly target and to sustain the progress made.
