Before reaching retirement age, the generation of baby boomers might find a creative solution to the ageing problem. This new study released jointly by Demos and Age Concern argues that the implications of an ageing society cannot be readily predicted on the basis of abstract demographic trends, as the outcome will be dependent on the collective and individual choices we make about how to adapt to an ageing society. The report explains that the public debate about demographic revolution has disregarded the fact that the generation of baby boomers, due to reach the retirement age within the next 20 years, has transformed every situation they passed through and there is no indication that they would stop now.
