Europe is losing the fight against antimicrobial resistance (AMR). By 2050, AMR could cause more deaths than cancer; the economic damage will be on par with the 2008 economic crisis.
The European Parliament and European Commission are alert to the critical moment facing Europe; the Commission unveiled a new AMR Action Plan this year, and Parliament has worked closely with the Commission to advance the narrative. Member states are the weak links, and without a pan-European approach, the AMR crisis will persist.
