Commissioner Liikanen calls for more inclusive view of innovation

During the ‘Third European Forum for Innovative Enterprises’, Commissioner Erkki Liikanen called for a more inclusive view of innovation to leverage the potential in European start-up creation. The event also highlighted the results from the Pilot Action of Excellence on Innovative Start-Ups, PAXIS.

Mr Liikanen emphasized that there are two priorities for a
European-level approach to innovation:

  • to renew our thinking about the way innovation works in the
    European context;
  • to develop a more complete and inclusive view of innovation,
    matching both the technological and the organisational aspects to
    extract the full advantages for the customer.

The experts at the Forum have also discussed how to provide
favourable conditions for promoting innovation in the EU and how
public authorities can encourage the emergence of successful
innovative firms.
