Going against the tough US stance on North Korea, EU leaders decided to send a delegation led by the Swedish Presidency to Pyongyang and Seoul to express support for the reconciliation process between the two Koreas. The Summit reaffirmed, in the presence of Macedonian President Trajkovski, the EU's support for the Macedonian government in its conflict with ethnic Albanian guerillas. EU leaders also met with Russian President Putin and promised financing for environmental projects in Russia of up to 100 million euros.
