Ukraine’s president-elect, Viktor Yushchenko, plans to bring his five-year action plan before the European Parliament on 25 January, in which he wants to spell out his “strategic goal” of achieving full EU membership for his country, a top Yushchenko aide was reported as saying. According to the aide, who was quoted by the Interfax news agency, the president-elect will “clearly convey Ukraine’s position on European integration”. Yushchenko, meanwhile, was confirmed by the country’s Supreme Court on 19 January as the winner of the 26 December presidential elections. The ruling is final and cannot be appealed.
