Bosnia and Herzegovina’s Foreign Minister Bisera Turković criticised Serbia on Monday for undermining good relations between the two countries with its investment in the construction of a hydropower plant on the Drina River without prior approval from Sarajevo.

“Serbia’s authorities have to know that by launching the project for the construction of the Buk Bijela hydropower plant, which does not have the state’s approval and which is in contradiction to decisions by the Constitutional Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina, they are risking not only economic damage but they also undermine good neighbourly relations,” Turković said in a statement.

“BiH is prepared for all investments and joint projects that are in the interest of citizens in both countries but only with respect for BiH’s Constitution, laws and institutions,” he added.

Turković reacted after Serbian Prime Minister Ana Brnabić and Prime Minister of the Republika Srpska (the Serb entity in BiH), Radovan Višković laid a foundation stone for the future hydropower plant in Foča earlier on Monday. (Željko Trkanjec | EURACTIV.hr)
