The speakers of Bosnia and Herzegovina’s two houses of parliament sent a joint letter to the EU, the Council of Europe and US institutions seeking resolute action by the international community to stop plans for secession announced by the Serb member of the country’s Presidency, Milorad Dodik.

They added that Dodik’s announcement of Republika Srpska (RS) withdrawing from legislation that established the country’s armed forces, state judiciary, police and intelligence services means not only that he is acting contrary to the Constitution and applicable laws but that he is also trying to establish para-state government bodies.

They added that this is the climax of Dodik’s policies, which he and his allies have advocated for over a decade.

“We can safely say that BiH would have been a lot more stable and successful had it not been for the actions of the SNSD party led by Milorad Dodik. In the past 15 years, at first modestly and then as time went on, more openly and insolently, this politician and his associates inhibited the country’s progress on its Euro-Atlantic journey and did everything they could to retain the apartheid in reference to Croats and Bosniaks in RS”, the letter said.
