Meanwhile, 33 COVID-19 patients died, the national crisis management team said. In the past 24 hours, 19,975 persons tested for the virus and almost half tested positive. Experts say the substantial rise in infections is due to the holiday season. Currently, there are 39,853 active cases, and 20,633 persons are self-isolating. Besides, 1,824 COVID-19 patients are hospitalised, of which 244 are on ventilators. The current vaccination rate now lies at 55.82%. Among them, 66.49% are adults, of whom 63.44% are fully jabbed.
